THE GASLIGHTING MEMOIRS VOLUME I
MY SOUL TO KEEP. BY D.G. KAMENETZKY, PH.D
The author, D.G. Kamenetzky, Ph.D. has considered his latest work, Gaslighting, as a graphic novel. It is about a form of psychological abuse known as “gaslighting.” Gaslighting is a form of psychological influence where a person secretly plants seeds of doubt in a targeted individual, making them question their memory, insight, or judgment, often inducing mental conflict and other changes such as low self-esteem. This abuse is becoming a widely discussed problem in both popular magazines, like Psychology Today social media outlets, from Facebook to TedX, to professional journals, self-help books, and educational webinars. D.G. Kamenetzky, Ph.D. believes that by presenting the topic of gaslighting in a dramatic and captivating graphic novel, more people will know about the issue. He envisions the story, depicting what happens in therapy for both the therapist and patient and in “real life” outside of treatment. His sole purpose is to make the issue of gaslighting known as a severe problem of relationship abuse and emotional domestic violence. Whether it takes place at home, the office or school, Facebook or Instagram, it is rampant in our society. The “Gaslighting” novel is intended to expose the issue, drawing from D.G. Kamenetzkys personal life and professional experience as a psychologist. The author hopes this graphic novel will lead to more graphic novels and a comic book series.
